About

Digital Forming Ltd. was established in November 2008 by 4 partners from science, creative and business backgrounds; Assa Ashuach, Dr Siavash Mahdavi, Nicolas de Cordes and Lisa Harouni.
By May 2009, the company was awarded an Innovation Grant by the UK government to develop its vision of creating a plaform that will bring Additive Manufacturing technology (often referred to as '3D Printing') into the public arena. Through our platform, lifestyle brands and professional product designers are given the opportunity to tap into this revolutionary technology so allowing them to offer their customers bespoke products in mass - at affordable cost. Brands can also benefit from the many advantages that Additive Manufacturing can bring to their business, such as: Reducing product cycles and time-to-market; eliminating injection moulding costs and minimising material waste; abolishing some levels of manual labour and assembly; manufacturing on-demand which reduces stocks; and manufacturing locally which promotes a lower carbon footprint.

From 25th to 27th August 2009, Digital Forming’s technology was exhibited at the Science Museum London as part of the Museum’s Centenary programme in conjunction with EOS, world leading manufacturer of Additive Manufacturing systems, in an event called “Create and Make – Print in 3D”. Since then, Digital Forming has generated strong interest from national and international press, with coverage on BBC Newsround and prominent articles in both paper and web versions of publications such as: The International Herald Tribune, The Times, The Telegraph, Evening Standard, DEZEEN, WIRED and London Lite.

To showcase our technonology, Digital Forming established its own ‘proof of concept’ brand in May 2010, named UCODO. UCODO stands for 'User Co-Designed Objects'. UCODO.com has been fully developed as a ready-to-go e-commerce site offering online 3D customization and is currently in closed beta testing. It was set up as an area for end-to-end operational testing and R&D in new manufacturing processing and materials.

Today, Digital Forming has developed an extensive platform to link designers, brands, and their customers to Additive Manufacturing. Our technology is available through a SaaS licensing model and we undertake consultancy for companies who are looking for a competitive edge through Additive Manufacturing technologies.
